The Notary

A professional life dedicated to legal certainty.

For more than four decades, I have had the privilege of assisting individuals, families, entrepreneurs and international clients through some of the most important legal decisions of their lives.

Throughout these years, one conviction has steadily grown stronger: the true value of a notarial deed does not lie in the document itself, but in the legal certainty it creates. Every transaction represents far more than the signing of a contract. It often involves family projects, business investments, generational transfers of wealth or decisions that will continue to produce legal effects for many years.

My role has never been simply to prepare legal documents. It has always been to help clients understand the legal consequences of their decisions, identify potential risks before they become problems and build solutions capable of providing stability over time.

Experience has taught me that clients rarely arrive with a complete legal question. More often, they arrive with an objective, an idea or a concern. Part of the notarial function consists in asking the questions that have not yet been asked, identifying the legal issues that may not be immediately apparent and transforming an initial intention into a legally sound and lasting solution.

This approach has shaped my professional practice since my appointment as an Italian Notary in 1983 and continues to guide my work today.

A Career Built on Experience

After my appointment as Notary at the age of twenty-seven, I began practising in Andorno Micca, later establishing my office in Biella before transferring my principal office to Casale Monferrato in 1996. Today the practice also operates through its secondary office in San Maurizio d'Opaglio, serving clients throughout Piedmont and, increasingly, from many other parts of the world.

During more than forty years of professional activity I have assisted clients across a broad range of notarial practice, including real estate transactions, family property planning, inheritance matters, corporate law, agricultural law and complex international transactions.

Over time, my practice has developed a particular focus on cross-border matters involving foreign individuals, international families and overseas investors purchasing property or establishing legal interests in Italy.

The increasing internationalisation of private wealth has made this area of practice both intellectually stimulating and professionally rewarding. Every legal system has its own concepts, terminology and traditions. Helping clients navigate these differences has become one of the most interesting aspects of my professional life.

Complex matters do not require quick answers; they require careful analysis. Whenever a transaction presents unusual legal questions, I prefer to devote additional personal time to understanding the client's objectives, exploring the relevant legal framework and identifying a legally sound solution appropriate to the circumstances of the case. Careful listening has always been, in my experience, the beginning of good legal advice.

Public Responsibilities

The Italian Notary performs a public function entrusted by the State. Throughout my career I have also had the opportunity to contribute to the development of the profession through institutional responsibilities within the Italian notarial system.

These appointments have included service within legislative and institutional commissions, communication activities on behalf of the National Council of Notaries, participation in inter-district notarial bodies and membership of supervisory commissions established under Italian legislation.

For more than twenty years I also served, by appointment of the competent Court, as the delegated Notary for judicial real estate enforcement proceedings. This activity required the application of notarial principles in particularly complex legal contexts, combining procedural law, property law and the protection of creditors' rights.

These institutional responsibilities have never been viewed as distinctions to be displayed, but as opportunities to contribute to the quality and reliability of the notarial profession itself.

An International Practice

International work has become an increasingly important part of my professional activity.

The Studio regularly assists foreign individuals purchasing property in Italy, international families dealing with inheritance matters, foreign entrepreneurs investing in Italian businesses and Italian clients with assets or legal interests abroad.

This activity extends beyond the preparation of bilingual deeds. It requires understanding different legal cultures, recognising how apparently similar legal concepts may have very different meanings in different jurisdictions and ensuring that every client fully understands the legal implications of the transaction before signing any document.

The Studio regularly assists United States citizens and other international clients with legal matters in Italy. This activity has developed through many years of experience in international notarial practice and in the preparation of bilingual notarial deeds in Italian and English, as well as Italian and French, whenever permitted by Italian law.

For international clients, communication is often as important as legal technique. Before preparing any deed, I consider it essential that both the legal terminology and the practical objectives are fully understood by everyone involved. Only then can the appropriate legal solution be identified.

Continuing Professional Education

The law is constantly evolving. New legislation, judicial decisions and regulatory developments continuously reshape the legal environment in which individuals and businesses operate.

For this reason, I have always regarded professional education as an essential part of the notarial function rather than as a formal obligation.

Throughout my career I have organised, coordinated or participated in well over one hundred professional conferences, seminars and educational events covering subjects such as real estate law, inheritance law, corporate law, agricultural law, professional ethics, anti-money laundering legislation and other areas of notarial practice. This long-standing commitment to professional education continued until 2024, when I concluded my final conference programme with a seminar dedicated to professional ethics.

Teaching and professional discussion have never been separate from day-to-day practice. On the contrary, they have represented an opportunity to compare different legal approaches, analyse complex cases and continuously improve the quality of the legal assistance offered to clients.

Service to the Community

Throughout my professional life, I have believed that legal knowledge should be accessible not only when disputes arise, but also as a means of preventing problems and helping people make informed decisions.

This conviction has inspired several civic initiatives alongside my professional activity.

Among the projects of which I am particularly proud is the creation, in Casale Monferrato, of a Free Legal Information Service for Citizens. The service was established to provide members of the public with free legal information and initial legal guidance on matters affecting everyday life, reflecting the same preventive philosophy that characterises the Italian notarial system: helping people understand their legal position before problems develop.

I also promoted the establishment of the Patients' Rights Information Office at the local hospital as part of Cittadinanzattiva – Tribunale per i Diritti del Malato. The initiative was created to provide patients and their families with information, guidance and assistance in their relationship with the healthcare system and remains one of the civic projects to which I feel most closely connected.

Over the years I have also been actively involved in a number of civic and voluntary organisations, including Lions Club International, Cittadinanzattiva, A.I.D.O., AVIS and organisations supporting the agricultural sector.

Looking back, these activities have never represented a separate chapter from my professional life. They have always reflected the same underlying belief: the law fulfils its highest purpose when it serves people, promotes trust and prevents conflicts before they arise.

Professional Principles

Every Notary develops a personal way of practising the profession.

Mine has always been guided by a simple conviction: every client deserves personal attention, careful listening and legal solutions built around the specific circumstances of the individual case.

I have never considered the time devoted to listening as time taken away from legal work. Quite the opposite. Understanding a client's objectives before discussing legal instruments frequently leads to better, safer and more durable solutions.

This approach becomes particularly important when assisting international clients.

Different legal systems often use similar terminology to describe concepts that are, in reality, profoundly different. My task is not simply to translate words from one language into another, but to bridge different legal cultures so that every client fully understands both the opportunities and the legal consequences of the decisions being made.

Whether assisting a family purchasing its first home in Italy, an entrepreneur investing in an Italian company or heirs dealing with assets located in different countries, I believe that the role of the Italian Notary extends well beyond the preparation of legal documents.

It is, above all, a responsibility to create legal certainty through independence, impartiality, technical competence and careful attention to the individual needs of every client.

If this website helps readers better understand the Italian legal system, then my role as a Notary has already begun long before any deed is signed. Every page has been written with the same objective that has guided my professional life for more than forty years: helping people make informed decisions with confidence, clarity and lasting legal certainty.

Client reviews

Many reviews speak not only of the deed that was signed, but of the experience itself: the clarity of the explanations, the time given to questions, the calm with which even the most complex transactions were handled.
